We are a one stop shop that offers services aspiring artists need, so they can stay focused on doing what they do best - perfecting their craft.
Our Method
We strive to build a robust community by developing strong connections with our artists. Every artist has different needs, goals, and obstacles - and it's our job to help support their journey despite them. We are transparent and work closely with them from the ground up, identifying exactly how we can help them flourish in their journey.
Our Story
Matte Black Records is owned and operated by Julien and Dylan, who are music producers that share an endless passion for all things music. They were introduced back in 2012, and immediately connected over their enthusiasm for learning about music production. After some time, they became close friends and wanted to take their music journey together seriously, so they decided to pursue a formal education in music production. Shortly after starting their programs, they built their very first music studio together, where they produced music and worked towards their dream of one day owning a music business. The rest is history.
Julien started his music journey in 2003, playing clarinet & bass clarinet in a high school concert band. At night he would DJ for all age clubs and other events. After graduating high school, he attended Trebas Institute, studying the audio engineering and production/DJ arts program. He continued his education with various programs from The Berklee College of Music and is a certified and accomplished audio engineer and producer.
His creativity is almost effortless.
DYLAN
Dylan started his music journey in 2006, all the way back in high school, where he experimented with creating and remixing electronic music in GarageBand. After graduating high school, he decided to take his hobby more seriously and attended Dubspot Music School based in New York City. He graduated with a total of 5 different certificates based around music production and is a certified and accomplished audio engineer and producer.
His attention to detail is impeccable.
